How We Change That
At A Child's Hope we focus on the people who gives orphaned and vulnerable children the daily support they need while a permanent family arrangement is possible. Our Programs are designed to help caregivers, social workers, and everyone else working with these children have access to better systems, better tools, and a community of people just like them.
Consistent Presence
When Kwesi* arrived at his children’s home in Ghana at age two, he didn’t cry, reach for anyone, or smile. His caregivers couldn’t tell what he needed, because he never showed them.
Because of generous donors, his caregiver, Aunti Lydia, received training through our Thrive Collective. She learned to get down to his level, speak softly, and use gentle expressions he could understand without words.
At first, nothing changed. But she kept showing up the same way, every day. Then one day she called his name, and he looked up. Soon he was reaching for her hand. Then, while they played with his favorite toy, he smiled at her for the first time.
“At first, Kwesi would not respond when I called him,” Aunti Lydia said. “But now he looks at me and even smiles.”
Kwesi didn’t need a grand gesture. He needed someone to see him, day after day, until he knew he was safe. Your gift gives a child like Kwesi that someone.

Family, Again
When Rosaria arrived at Casa del Jardín, one of our partner homes, difficult circumstances had taken a toll on her emotional health, her relationships, her education, and had left her vulnerable.
There, she found care for the whole person: psychological support, help with her studies, and the everyday life skills that build confidence. At the same time, the team worked closely with her family to address what had led to their separation, helping them create a safe and stable home for her return.
Today, Rosaria is back with her family. She is attending school, has a positive relationship with her loved ones, and continues to receive regular follow-up support as she settles into this new chapter.
This is what holistic care makes possible: healing, education, and a family restored.
