Ghana Make A Difference (GMAD) is an excellent orphanage in Ghana. They have been successful at implementing educational, therapy, and reunification initiatives for the children they serve. A Child’s Hope and GMAD are collaborating to implement the Thrive Program in their own home.

The Impact

Many of the older boys at GMAD were enslaved in the fishing industry for the better part of a decade before being rescued and brought to the home. These boys have been cruising through academia and are now at an exciting crossroads.

The Junior High School children who recently completed their exams are now choosing the schools where they would like to study. Daniel, one of the boys said that he would rather attend Winneba Technical Institute instead of a traditional Secondary High School. He said he wants to study Information Technology. Dotse, another boy said he wants to study either Building Construction or Hospitality and Catering Management.

These kids have options! They are going places! They are survivors who have taken education seriously and have so many opportunities. One of the social workers at GMAD began working with each child to help guide the kids’ interests toward bright futures.
